Nuneaton can trace its origins back to a 12th-century Benedictine nunnery known as 'Eaton', parts of which still survive, around which much of the town grew. In more recent times, Nuneaton became a centre for textiles and manufacturing leading up to the early part of the 20th century and a significant producer of munitions during the war years.
Today, Nuneaton is home to around 73,000 people and is a flourishing town with a host of retail and leisure facilities.
